Explore the world of Hatton Garden, and play to win a piece of bespoke jewellery worth £1,000, designed and made especially for you by the jewellers of Hatton Garden. From 11 to 13 June 2009, the Hatton Garden Festival, will offer an exclusive behind-the-scenes insight into London’s famous jewellery centre We have teamed up with Hidden Cities, producers of the Hatton Garden Trail and Festival and the jewellers of Hatton Garden to offer an exciting way to explore Hatton Garden, with the chance to take home something very personal and special.
Hatton Garden has been a centre for jewellery for centuries; behind the sparkling diamond window displays are over 500 jewellery related businesses, including some of the country’s most celebrated contemporary jewellers, a host of young designer-makers, and many of the industry’s most skilled manufacturers. From techniques handed down through the generations, to the latest technology, visitors can get insight into the variety of styles and crafts that make up London‘s jewellery industry.
From Thursday 11 June 2009 – Saturday 13th we will be running an urbaneer game providing you with a chance to win this fantastic prize! You can download the game here and start taking part from Thursday morning! The game will take about an hour to complete in total. Respond at your own pace, as questions lead you around the area, exploring some of the fascinating history hidden in the buildings, and visiting jewellers for insights into the jewellery industry.
Saturday 13 June will have a street party feel with jewellery-making demonstrations in the street, children’s workshops, costumed actors, musicians, a fine food market, and a host of jewellery themed walks, talks and workshops – fun for the whole family! Theatre students from the Central School of Speech and Drama have been commissioned to decorate the street adding to the fun-filled ambience on the day with dramatic signage and other embellishments.
