West Harrow station was created for the inter-war year’s metroland extension of the edwardian Vaughan Estate. Now it is an urban village – with its own parish church, art gallery, garage (with hindu shrine) and school – and air raid shelter! On this wintry March day leafless bushes and trees were very much in evidence, and the daffodils in the recreation ground had yet to come into bloom.
