Blue Squares Project Goes East

who could think of a better way than to urbaneer a new city than using the Walton Art Exposure Project?
we had lots of fun finding our star-map places to take photo’s of our blue squares in Shanghai…not to mention all the strange looks we got from the shanghainese!

all our blue square photo’s are on flickr – check them out here

Welcome to the Jungle!

The urbaneer jungle is a dangerous place with lots of free roaming animals trying to get to the waterhole before you do – the aim of this game is to outwit the other animals by solving the clues quicker and being the first to reach the life-saving waterhole

we played our second urban game on 21 June 2008 in the Shoreditch jungle – listen to what some of the players had to say:

CITIES as PLAYGROUNDS – Let The Games Begin

Hello again!

Our last few months have been really exciting – we have played our first game, set up our facebook group, joined a freeze and been dancing on a bridge.
Join our face-book group now and stay connected with what’s happening!

What have you missed?
London
• We played our first game and it was a big success – the area around Brick Lane turned into a danger zone of benevolent cruelty with 7 teams and a climatic, kindly bloodbath – have a look on our site for what the players had to say…read more
• We danced on Millennium Bridge and subsequently featured in an exhibition 
• London Liverpool Street Freeze – well this seems to be the third in a series and the second one in London– watch our video here (you need to scroll all the way to the bottom)
The Cans Festival brought to you by Banksy and friends is still on until the end of Bank-holiday weekend…

What’s coming up?
London
• Now here is a first – London’s first ever knitty treasure hunt on Worldwide Knit in Public day 14 June 2008 (don’t worry we didn’t know this existed either )...it is free to participate, but you will need to sign up)

NY
• If you happen to be in NY and for all New Yorkers – there is a whole festival waiting for you. Come Out & Play is running for the third time on 6- 8 June 2008 – make sure you are there!!!

Worldwide
• Long before we set up urbaneer my dear friend Julia was leading the way with the Walton Art Exposure Project (WEAP) for her MA in Fine Arts. I guess this must have been the first time I creatively explored urban spaces equipped with six blue squares and a star-map…it was great fun (particularly as the sheep of Mudchute Farm started to attach my squares)!!! Click here for more info about the Julia Walton Art Exposure Project (WEAP) and on how you can take part…if you do please make sure to send Julia a set of your photograph’s for her collection!
